A former treasurer of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has had misconduct allegations made against him dismissed by the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Sid Dajani was referred by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society to the GPhC and had his membership of the professional body suspended in July 2018, we can reveal. Mr Dajani, a member of the English Pharmacy Board at the time, was accused of expenses irregularities; inappropriate behaviour towards a senior executive at the Society; and making inappropriate comments on social media. Mr Dajani denied the allegations.
However, the GPhC ruled last month that the allegations did not meet the threshold criteria for further investigation and dismissed the case.
Pharmacy Magazine understands that Mr Dajani is seeking a judicial review of the way the RPS has handled his case.
The former English Pharmacy Board member’s suspension by the RPS created the “casual vacancy” in this year’s election.
“The GPhC has completely exonerated me,” Mr Dajani told Pharmacy Magazine. “I continually raised questions of propriety and governance against key individuals leading the RPS and the result was to victimise me with false allegations. It is time to protect whistleblowers wherever they may be.”
